How the OPINE shower filter works

Most US water systems are filled with chlorine, heavy metals and other substances that shouldn’t be on your skin. That’s why we created OPINE. Our filtration system uses simple, proven science to turn harsh tap water into water that leaves your skin feeling softer, your hair looking shinier and your respiratory health.
The dirty secret in your daily shower
By the time tap water reaches your shower, it has traveled through miles of aging metal pipes and been treated with high levels of chlorine to kill bacteria, which is the same chemical used in swimming pools.
Chlorine
It kills bacteria but also strips your skin’s natural oils, causing dryness, tightness and flare-ups, especially if you have eczema or sensitive skin. Over time, chlorine buildup weakens your hair strands and fades your hair color, while your skin barrier becomes thinner and more reactive.
Heavy metals
Heavy metals such as lead, mercury, and iron leach in from corroded pipes, dulling hair color and irritating your scalp.
How unfiltered water sabotages your skincare routine
Chlorine and heavy metals disrupt your skin’s natural balance. They strip the oils that keep skin soft, and they make hair brittle, dull and dry. How OPINE purifies your water
Our multi-stage filtration system uses science-backed methods and materials to reduce chlorine, heavy metals, sediments and impurities that damage your skin and hair.

Step 1
Microfiber Layers for Fine Filtration
As water first enters the filter, triple microfiber cloth layers trap sediments and particles down to 50 microns without slowing pressure. This ensures cleaner water right from the start and prevents clogging in later stages.

Step 2
KDF-55 Redox Reaction
Our NSF-certified KDF-55 layer follows next. As water passes through copper and zinc granules, a redox reaction neutralizes chlorine and locks up heavy metals like lead and iron. Our KDF media is granular-sized (about 0.5 mm), which increases the surface area for contact and makes filtration more effective. It also prevents bacteria and algae from growing, keeping your water clean and your filter fresh.

Step 3
Calcium Sulfite (Works Even in Hot Showers)
Finally, calcium sulfite removes leftover chlorine, chromium and metals that slip past cheap filters. It remains highly effective in hot showers, so you can enjoy your purifying shower ritual at your desired temperature.
